Session 28: Administrators Leading the Blending/Teaming Process for RtI

As schools move to full implementation of Response to Intervention (RtI), learn the steps that districts and buildings are taking to integrate academics and behavior data, problem solving processes, and using evidence-based interventions.

Session 29: High School Tier 3/Tertiary Interventions: The Link Between Transition and Person-centered Planning

Transition planning is an integral component for students’ post-school success. Person Centered Planning is a student-focused planning practice that promotes student leadership and strengthens transition plans. At Tier 3, RENEW is a person-centered planning process that supports completing high school, and transitioning into the work-force. An overview of the process and a school based example will be provided.

Session 30: Building School, Family, Community Partnerships - Part I

There are many ways to create and improve partnerships between schools, families, and community members. This session will explicitly describe strategies that school teams, family, and community leaders can use to support these partnerships and will provide real examples of partnerships in Illinois schools and communities.

Session 31: Integrate Behavior Expectations Throughout the Curriculum with Literature

Presentation will focus on utilizing literature across curriculum to teach and reinforce your schools’ behavioral expectations and increase social emotional learning. Participants will be able to identify resources for locating and evaluating quality literature and exploring strategies that engage students to make the connection between literature and their world. This interactive session will model classroom and small group activities and provide many resources. 

Session 32: Blended RtI: Integrating Academics and Behavior

Participants will learn about the RtI Network in Illinois including their goals, progress with districts, and collaborative efforts with other ISBE initiatives/projects.

Session 33: Implementing Effective Bullying Prevention within the Multi-Tiered System of Supports Framework

Learn how to apply the anti-bullying construct toward implementing effective bullying prevention within your multi-tiered system of supports. Session 34: Introduction to Tier 2/Tier 3 Systems, Data, and Practices

This session will describe Tier 2 and Tier 3 data, systems, and practices. Material will support teams in creating, progress-monitoring, and improving Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions. Emphasis will be on creating an efficient system, which supports the use of effective practices.

Session 35: Check-in Check-out as a Layered Intervention

Two key components of RtI are providing support efficiently and layering support for student success. Come to this session to learn how to continue to use the systems and data of CICO as you layer interventions along the continuum. A school will share their examples of using CICO systems to support students with varied levels of need and describe how CICO can support higher level interventions.

Session 36: Person-centered Planning for Students with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD): The Focus Family Model

Session 37: Exploring Secondary Interventions in High Schools

Providing high school youth access to a continuum of interventions can be challenging. In this session, the exemplar will provide an overview of their simple secondary interventions and what they have learned through the process of expanding their continuum.

Session 38: Benefits of School, Family, Community Partnerships

Session 39: Integrating Mental Health through Multi-Tiered Systems in Schools

Mental health, academic, and behavioral supports all exist along a continuum. Schools need Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 interventions in place to support youth needs from mental wellness to mental health. Learn about a Tier 2 intervention called SPARCS (Structured Psychotherapy for Adolescents Responding to Chronic Stress) that illustrates this collaboration.

Session 40: The Team Initiated Problem Solving (TIPS) Model

The (TIPS) Model provides problem solving teams with a process that encompasses data collection, needs identification, development of a problem hypothesis statement, selection of solutions, implementing and evaluating an intervention. The TIPS Model can be applied by school teams addressing student academic, and/or behavior needs at all tiers.

Session 41: Role of School-based Clinician in a Multi-Tiered System of Support

The role of a school-based clinician within a three-tiered model of behavior support, using data to determine effectiveness of interventions, and illustrating how PBIS tools can aid this process will be discussed. Examples of how districts are changing the role of social workers as well as bridging “old” and “new” systems of data collection together will be given.

Session 42: The Principal's Role in Leading a Positive Behavior Support School

Learn how the principal provides the critical link to successful positive behavior support implementation. It begins with selection and support of team members and coaches and active participation in team activities. It continues with encouraging staff members in the change process, using data to monitor progress, and sharing progress with all stakeholders.

Session 43: Building Staff Commitment, Consistency, and Sustainability for School-wide Positive Behavior Support

Establishing and sustaining staff engagement at Tier 1 is essential for the implementation of your data, systems, and practices. Ideas and strategies for engagement and participation through staff voice, acknowledgements, and communication will be shared.

Session 44: Coaching Wraparound

Research shows that learning is enhanced when a combination of teaching approaches are utilized. Participants will learn coaching techniques characterized by the “Do For, Do With, Cheer On” cascading coaching model that will lead to an increase in the fidelity of wraparound implementation.

Session 45: Building School, Family, Community Partnerships, Part II

Join the ISTAC staff and other school team, family and community members for a forum on creating and improving partnerships. Participants will experience the "world cafe" model that will be used to structure this session while discussing SFCP topics and learning how to facilitate this type of meeting in their own community.
