District Builds Tier 2/Tier 3 Fidelity

In the fall of 2009, the Illinois PBIS Network began supporting Schaumburg SD 54 as a replication site for the Tier 2/Tier 3 demonstration project.  This included universal screening for behavior, an evidence-based practice using standardized teacher nominations and ratings to ensure timely identification of students needing additional support.  District coaches provided training to schools and assisted building-level coordinators with screenings.  The first cohort of schools experienced rapid growth in fidelity implementation of individual behavior plans, as shown by the Tier 3 Benchmarks for Advanced Tiers (BAT) scores in the graph below. Active training and coaching increased staff buy-in, and district support further increased growth of Tier 3 systems
