The universal team at Dundee Crown High School, Carpentersville SD 300,
has been actively strengthening their universal system of behavioral
supports. In the summer of 2009, the school changed to a simpler,
three-item slogan that students and staff can easily recall: Be
Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Positive. These expectations were
taught across settings using student- and staff- developed videos, as
well as a big staff and student kickoff at the beginning of this school
year. In the first quarter of 2009-10, overall referrals were down by
20% when compared to the same period last year, and gang related
referrals have decreased by more than half. |
